WATERCOLOUR, PAINTERLY & BOLD COLOUR

Watercolour and painterly tattoos differ from neo-traditional in both technique and imagery. While neo-traditional tattoos often rely on bold black outlines and defined shapes, these styles focus on a more fluid, artistic approach. The line-work may be minimal - sometimes in grey rather than black - or entirely absent in some areas, allowing the colours to flow more freely across the skin. The shading in these designs is much more blended, similar to the soft transitions you'd find in a watercolour painting, creating a dreamy, fluid effect. Another key difference is the imagery - neo-traditional tends to focus on iconic, specific designs, while this section embraces more abstract, non-traditional themes.
